I All children not currently enrolled in Catholic school are welcomed and encouraged to attend classes for catechetical formation and sacrament preparation. Trained volunteers conduct weekly classes as follows:

Pre-K through 6th Grade Wednesday, 4:15 - 5:30 p.m.
Saturday, 9:45 - 11 a.m.
Grade 1 and 2 Spanish Saturday, 9:45 – 11 a.m.
7th and 8th Grade Wednesday, 5: 15 - 6: 15 p.m.
RCIA for Children (RCIC) Sunday, 11 a.m
A journey to the sacraments for children in 3rd grade and above who have not yet been baptized (or who have never received Holy Communion)
Little Church Sunday, 9 - 10 a.m
Introducing God's wonderful world to 3, 4 & 5 year olds
Children's Liturgy of the Word Sunday during 9 a.m. Mass
Led by a catechist, children in grades 1-6 are invited to leave the assembly to hear the readings of the day at a child's level of understanding. Children return to the Mass for the Liturgy of the Eucharist
Vacation Bible School One week each summer
Night in Bethlehem One evening each December

 

Baptism Ministry

The first step in arranging for your child's baptism is to make an appointment for a baptism interview (310) 833-3541 ext. 200.

Interviews:        Baptism interviews are held in the parish office on Saturday mornings.An appointment is necessary. A                         baptism application form is filled out by the parent who chooses the date for their child's baptism.

Baptism Class: Parents and Godparents are required to attend a baptism class prior to baptizing their child.
                             Baptism classed are offered by Mary Star of the Sea at 3:00pm in Room #111of the Msgr Scott Building on the 1st &                              3rd Sundays of each month. The class last approximately 2 hours and no appointment is necessary. Children cannot                              be admitted to class and we ask that you arrive a few minutes before 3:00pm so that class can begin and end                              promptly. A Spanish language baptism class is offered, by appointment only, on the 2nd Sunday of each month at                              3:00pm.
Baptism:            Baptisms in English take place on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month at 3:00pm. Baptisms in Spanish take place                             on the 1st Sunday of each month at 3:00pm.
