History: In 1935, formal introduction into religious education for children not enrolled in Mary Star Elementary School was initiated under the direction of the Missionary Catechists from Victory Knoll, Indiana. Mary Star of the Sea's Religious Education Program began in 1963 and continues to provide religious education and sacrament preparation to the young parishioners.
The children who are preparing to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist are given special Catechetical Formation classes. In addition, their parents are obliged to attend formation classes in order to support and encourage their young ones as they prepare for the two sacraments.
